Two Slow Dancers | 2022

TWO SLOW DANCERS is a collaboration between filmmaker Ellie Gravitte and choreographer Adriana Pierce. Gravitte conceived of the video, based on Mitski’s song of the same name, about the cyclical nature of love and loss in New York City. It follows two lovers who, despite their dreaming, can’t seem to find their way back to one another. Featuring Remy Young and Sierra Armstrong of American Ballet Theater.

‘Animals & Angels,’ presented by The Joyce Theater | 2021

Challenging the gendered roles deeply engrained in the world of classical ballet, #QueertheBallet celebrates Pride with a tender pas de deux for rarely paired female dancers in the premiere of Animals & Angels. Created, performed, and filmed entirely by a team of LGBTQ+ artists led by #QueertheBallet's founder Adriana Pierce and cinematographer Emma Penrose, the work is an affectionate and sensitive depiction of the blossoming of a queer relationship that honors the female dancers' emotional and physical connections to each other. Allowing two women to experience through dance the first moments of intimacy without remaining beholden to traditional ballet's gender roles, Animals & Angels brings inclusion with integrity and pride performed by Audrey Malek and Cortney Taylor Key to the world of classical dance.

‘Bridge Street Theatre Residency’ | 2020

This pas de deux was created as part of #QueertheBallet’s Dance Residency at Bridge Street Theatre. This duet is a nuanced expression of a queer relationship and serves as a loving testament to the unique and varied ways in which two women communicate and connect. The dancers care for and about each other. They give and take and share and love, and they create a world for themselves in which they feel seen, comfortable, proud, communicative, and respected.

‘I am Enough’ | 2019

‘I Am Enough’ is a pas de deux originally created in celebration of National Coming Out Day 2019. The work was later adapted for the stage as a part of the annual Dance Against Cancer event.
